The India Bloc has announced B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice President's post, intensifying the race for the position. On the other hand, NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan will file his nomination today at 11 AM.
New Delhi: The political atmosphere is heating up in the country ahead of the Vice Presidential election. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has put forward senior leader CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate. Radhakrishnan will file his nomination for the Vice President's post today, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Parliament House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will be present on this occasion and will sign as the chief proposer in the first set.
Nomination to be Filed in Four Sets
According to sources, a total of four sets of nomination papers will be filed on behalf of Radhakrishnan. Each set will bear the signatures of 20 proposers and 20 seconders who are Members of Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will sign as the proposer on the first set. The remaining three sets will be signed by Union Ministers and MPs from the NDA alliance.
Apart from Prime Minister Modi, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states will also be present during the nomination filing. This clearly indicates that the NDA intends to showcase a display of strength during Radhakrishnan's nomination.
B. Sudarshan Reddy in the Fray from the India Bloc
In the Vice Presidential election, the opposition alliance, India Bloc, has nominated B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate. His name was finalized on Tuesday at a meeting of opposition parties held at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Sudarshan Reddy hails from Telangana and has extensive experience in the judiciary. He has served as a Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court.
In addition, he has also been a Judge of the Supreme Court and retired in the year 2011. Recently, the Telangana government constituted a committee to analyze the data from the caste survey, which was also led by B. Sudarshan Reddy.
