India vs West Indies 2nd Test: Delhi Pitch Report, Weather Forecast, Venue Records & Squads Preview

The second Test match between India and West Indies will be played today, October 10, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Captain Shubman Gill is aiming to win this home Test series by a 2-0 margin.

Sports News: The second Test match between India and West Indies will be played today, Friday  (October 10), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. As Test captain, Shubman Gill is focused on winning his first home Test series by a 2-0 margin. Earlier, under Gill's captaincy, Team India had drawn the Test series in England by a 2-2 margin.

Under Gill's captaincy, the first Test against West Indies was won by an innings and 140 runs. Therefore, ahead of the second Test match, there is discussion about how the Delhi pitch (Ind vs Wi 2nd Test Pitch) will play this time.

Delhi Pitch Report

The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is generally considered favorable for batsmen. A slightly slow and uneven bounce can be observed on the pitch, but bowlers might get assistance from seam bowling and off-spin in the first two days. In the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played on this very ground last year, the Australian team decided to bat first despite a slow turner, but they faced a 6-wicket defeat in three days. Based on this, it can be said that early bowling might get some advantage on the pitch, but the main attraction of the match will be batting.

Venue Records

  • India: India has played 35 Test matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium so far, winning 14, losing 6, and drawing 15.
  • West Indies: West Indies has played 7 Test matches at this venue so far, including 2 wins and 1 loss.
  • Special Note: The Windies team will play a Test match at this Delhi venue for the first time since 2011. India won the previous match by 5 wickets.

A characteristic of the pitch is that the team winning the toss prefers to opt for bowling first, in order to take advantage of the slower pitch for batting later.

Delhi Weather

Delhi and the NCR region had been experiencing rain and humidity for the past few days. However, the weather is expected to be relatively clear during the match.

  • Daytime temperature: Approximately 32 degrees Celsius
  • Evening temperature: May drop to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Chance of rain: Very low
  • Wind: Light cool breezes

Due to this weather, playing conditions will be favorable for both players and spectators during the match.
