Indian Railways Enhances Safety with Kavach System on Patna-DDU Route

Railways to Implement Kavach and Automatic Signaling System for Enhanced Safety on Patna-DDU Section's Third-Fourth Line. Patna-Kiul Route Included in First Phase. Budget Approved.

Railway Safety Update: The Indian Railways is continuously increasing the use of modern technology to enhance railway safety. In this series, Indian Railways has now taken a major step towards further strengthening safety on the third and fourth rail lines between Patna and DDU (Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay). Automatic signaling system and 'Kavach' safety system will now be implemented on this route.

What is 'Kavach' Safety System?

'Kavach' is an indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) developed by the Railways. With the help of this technology, the loco pilot gets real-time information about the train's position, signals, speed and other trains. In the event of any danger, this system is capable of automatically stopping the train or reducing its speed.

Implementation in the First Phase will be Between Patna and Kiul

According to the railway administration, in the first phase, this technology will be implemented on the route from Patna to Kiul. In this direction, the Railway Board has invited proposals and the process of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has started.

Third and Fourth Lines are Being Constructed on DDU Route

The construction work of the third and fourth rail lines is underway between Danapur Division and DDU Division. Kavach and automatic signaling system will also be implemented on these new lines. According to railway officials, this will not only increase safety but also improve the speed and operational efficiency of trains.

Loco Pilot will Get Real-Time Updates

With the Kavach system, the loco pilot will get a dashboard on which he will get all the necessary information in real time. This will not only make train operations safer but will also reduce the possibility of human error.

Tower Installation and Tender Process Ongoing

The work of installing towers for the Kavach system has started in the Patna to DDU section. Also, tenders have been issued for the technical structure related to Kavach in the rural areas of Patna Junction to Gaya and Jhajha. Infrastructure related to Kavach will be prepared in all these areas.

East Central Railway Gets Special Budget

The Ministry of Railways has approved a special budget for East Central Railway (ECR) and Danapur Division for installing Kavach system on a thousand kilometer rail route. Apart from Patna-DDU, other important routes will also be included in this. The aim of this initiative is to make the entire region safe and modern.

Train Operation Capacity Will Improve

After the implementation of this safety system, the average speed of trains will increase. Also, improvement in the punctuality of trains will also be seen. When trains run more accurately and safely, passengers will have a better experience.

Cleanliness Campaign Being Conducted at Stations

Along with safety, the Railways is also prioritizing cleanliness. On the occasion of Independence Day, cleanliness campaigns are being conducted in all divisions of East Central Railway. At Rajendra Nagar Railway Station, cleanliness was promoted through loudspeakers under the public awareness campaign.

Employees Did Shramdaan (Voluntary Labor)

Intensive cleaning of the track was done at Bakhtiyarpur Railway Station and employees voluntarily contributed labor at Kiul Station. This campaign is not only aimed at keeping the stations clean but is also increasing awareness about cleanliness among the passengers.

Public Participation is Being Encouraged

A signature campaign and selfie booth have been started in Samastipur Division. Also, through rallies in the railway colonies of Samastipur and Sonpur divisions, people are being made aware about cleanliness and safety.
