Indian Stock Market May Open Lower as GIFT Nifty Falls 129 Points RBI Policy in Focus

Indian stock markets may open lower on Wednesday as GIFT Nifty trades 129 points down. RBI monetary policy, crude oil prices, global cues and stocks including Apollo Tyres, Mahindra Lifespaces, ABB India, Ola Electric, Asian Paints and APSEZ remain in focus.

Indian equity markets are likely to open under pressure on Wednesday, with early indicators pointing to a weaker start. GIFT Nifty was trading around 129 points lower at about 8 a.m., indicating that the Sensex and Nifty may open on a weaker note.

Market direction, however, will depend on factors beyond GIFT Nifty. Movements in crude oil prices, global market trends and the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy decision will remain key factors for investors. The RBI’s monetary policy decision is among the key developments to watch during Wednesday’s trading session.

The central bank’s stance on interest rates could influence market movements. Developments in the Middle East and changes in crude oil prices could also affect Indian equities.

Shares of several companies could see activity on Wednesday following company-specific developments.

Apollo Tyres will remain in focus after Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Gaurav Kumar resigned from his position. His resignation is effective from October 6. According to the company, he intends to focus on new personal and professional challenges.

Mahindra Lifespaces Developers could also remain in focus after the company launched a new residential project, ‘Mahindra Rivanza’, in Pune’s Baner Annex area. The project has an estimated gross development value of around Rs 3,500 crore.

ABB India could see activity following a corporate management change. The company’s board has approved the appointment of Sunil Kumar Munga as CFO, effective January 1, 2027. He currently serves as Vice President and Business Area Controller (Electrification) at the company.

Ola Electric Mobility could also remain in focus. The company’s board meeting is scheduled for October 7 to consider proposals related to a rights issue of partly paid-up equity shares of up to Rs 1,000 crore.

Asian Paints will also remain on investors’ radar. The company’s board plans to consider an interim dividend for the financial year ending March 2027. If a dividend is declared, the record date has been set as November 4. The board will also consider approving the financial results for the September 2026 quarter and half-year.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary named ‘Paradip Mahanadi Terminal’ for the development and operation of two dry bulk berths at Paradip Port in Odisha. The corporate development could also lead to activity in the company’s shares.

Global cues for Indian markets are not entirely negative. US equities closed higher on Tuesday. Stability in crude oil prices and softer US Treasury yields eased some investor concerns. Market attention is also shifting towards upcoming third-quarter corporate earnings.
