Key Information Regarding Base Prices

Almost all of the newly added players have a base price of INR 30 lakh. However, initially, Ethan Bosch and Chris Green had a base price of INR 75 lakh, but this has been revised, and most players are now categorized within the minimum base price category. According to the BCCI, a total of 1390 players registered for the IPL 2026 auction, with only 359 being shortlisted. This indicates a highly competitive selection process, with only one in four players making the final list.

This auction will see competition among the 10 franchises for a total of 77 slots. 31 of these slots are reserved for foreign players, suggesting intense bidding for these limited slots, particularly for players with established international recognition.

The maximum reserve price for players this year is set at INR 2 crore. A total of 40 players have registered in this category, making it the most talked-about price slab in IPL history.

Only Two Indian Players in 2 Crore Base Price Category

Interestingly, only two Indian players – Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi – are included in the list of players with a base price of INR 2 crore. Both players have already made a b impact in the IPL, and it is highly probable that franchises will engage in intense bidding for them. The addition of nine new players to the list will undoubtedly impact the strategies of all teams. Some franchises may opt to invest in young talent, while others may prioritize experience. Players like Chris Green, as versatile all-rounders, could prove to be game-changers for any T20 team.
