Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has alleged that enemy countries are preparing to seize a key Iranian island, citing intelligence reports indicating involvement by the United States, Israel, and certain regional states. He stated that Iran is closely monitoring all such activities and warned that any attack would be met with an immediate and effective response.
Ghalibaf said the alleged plan involves assistance from a regional ally to carry out the seizure of the island. He added that Iranian forces are continuously tracking enemy movements and warned that if any action is taken, all critical infrastructure in the region would be targeted. His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also commented on the situation, stating that the United States has failed to achieve its primary war objectives against Iran, including a rapid military victory and regime change in Tehran. He said that despite these efforts, Iran’s government and military remain fully prepared and are ensuring national security.
Araghchi further stated that Iran would not tolerate any form of foreign intervention in its region. His remarks come amid increased US military deployments and intelligence activity, contributing to rising tensions in the Middle East.

The Pentagon has ordered the deployment of 2,000 additional troops from the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division based in North Carolina to the Middle East. In addition, two Marine Expeditionary Units are being dispatched from both sides of the Pacific Ocean. The Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group from Japan and the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group from San Diego are also being deployed.
These reinforcements will increase the number of US troops already in the region, adding 6,000 to 7,000 Marines and sailors to the approximately 50,000 personnel currently present. According to Al Jazeera, this marks the largest US military deployment since the 2003 Iraq war, when 160,000 troops were sent. No ground offensive has been ordered so far, but the scale of the deployment has raised concerns about potential escalation in the region.
Analysts have outlined at least three possible scenarios behind the deployment. These include seizing or blockading Kharg Island, clearing Iran’s coastline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and securing Iran’s nuclear materials.
Amid Iran’s warnings and the expanding US military presence, regional tensions continue to rise. Analysts state that the situation could impact not only relations between Iran and the United States but also broader security and political conditions across the Middle East.
