According to the Meteorological Centre, monsoon activity across Jharkhand is expected to strengthen further from 28 June, with the possibility of continuous rainfall in several districts.
Rainfall has led to a decline of around two degrees Celsius in Ranchi's maximum temperature. On Friday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius.
Several parts of the state recorded substantial rainfall during the past 24 hours. Chaibasa received the highest rainfall at 50.3 mm, followed by Jamtara with 36 mm and East Singhbhum with 33 mm. Lohardaga recorded 27 mm, Ranchi 15 mm and Simdega 13 mm of rainfall.
Strong winds and rainfall also affected electricity supply in Ranchi. As a precautionary measure, the power department temporarily suspended supply through several feeders, resulting in power outages of one to two hours in multiple areas of the city.
In the Kokar area, a large tree fell near Surendranath School, damaging two electricity poles. The incident disrupted power supply in nearby areas for approximately five to six hours. Electricity department teams completed repair work and restored power supply during the night.
The Meteorological Centre has advised residents to remain alert in the coming days and monitor the latest weather updates.
