Starring Salman Khan, Harshaali Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the blockbuster film 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is considered one of Bollywood's most memorable and brilliant films.
Entertainment: Bajrangi Bhaijaan is regarded as one of the most successful and heartwarming films in Hindi cinema. This film not only achieved great success at the box office but is also remembered in the history of Indian cinema as an example of humanity and love. Featuring outstanding performances by Salman Khan, Harshaali Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this film remains fresh in people's hearts even today.
Now, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' has completed 10 years since its release. On this special occasion, the film's director, Kabir Khan, has revealed why he chose Salman Khan for this film and what his thought process was behind working with Salman again after 'Ek Tha Tiger'.
Kabir Khan Reveals the Real Reason for Casting Salman in Bajrangi Bhaijaan
In a recent interview with NDTV, Kabir Khan clearly stated that Salman Khan was always his first and last choice for 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. However, it is also true that the film's script was offered to Aamir Khan before it reached Salman. But Kabir said that he never had Hrithik Roshan or anyone else in mind. He was only thinking of Salman for this role.
According to Kabir Khan, after 'Ek Tha Tiger', the industry was expecting another big action film from him and Salman. But Kabir's intention was different. He said, "I knew that I didn't want to repeat what I had done before with Salman Khan. I wanted to make a film with him that would touch hearts."
During our conversations, I felt that Salman was interested not only in stardom or action but also in humanity and emotions. That's why I chose a story like 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', where this aspect of Salman could be openly revealed.
Why the Change of Direction After 'Ek Tha Tiger'?
Kabir Khan said that after 'Ek Tha Tiger', he was receiving offers from many big production houses and studios to make another tremendous action movie with Salman. But he deliberately chose 'emotion' this time, not 'action'. The industry thought that I could only make masala films with Salman. But through 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', I wanted to bring out the innocent human being hidden within Salman, who talks about humanity.
According to Kabir Khan, when Salman Khan was narrated the story of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', he immediately agreed. Salman himself was happy that this film was not about 'heroic' action but about an innocent girl and humanity. Salman himself liked the idea that a Muslim character, who risks his life to take a Pakistani girl back to her home, was the soul of the film.
Kabir Khan on the Sequel - Wait for Now
Recently, there was discussion that a sequel to 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' would also be made, which Salman Khan has teased as 'Pawan Putra Bhaijaan'. But Kabir Khan has not given any clear answer on this yet. He said, "Until I have a story that is just as heart-touching, I will not work on a sequel. Films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan are not made just for business; they have an emotional purpose."
Released in 2015, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' showed the relations of humanity between India and Pakistan in a very simple and true way. The film touched hearts not only in India but also on an international level. The songs 'Tu Jo Mila', 'Bhar Do Jholi Meri', and emotional scenes from this film are still remembered by every cinephile. This film is considered the most emotional and sensitive film of Salman Khan's career.
Kabir Khan said, "People always remember Salman as an action hero, but I put his heart in front of people in 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. That was the reason why this character became special in his career."
