Kanhaiya Kumar accused the BJP of using Nitish Kumar until the Bihar Assembly elections and planning to remove him and install their own Chief Minister after the elections. He also highlighted irregularities in the voter list and the threat to democracy.
Patna: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Kanhaiya Kumar made serious allegations against the BJP. During the voter rights tour on Tuesday, Kanhaiya Kumar said that the BJP is using Nitish Kumar until the elections and is preparing to remove him and install its own Chief Minister after the elections. He also raised questions about irregularities in the voter list, the impartiality of the Election Commission, and the position of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan). During the tour, along with Congress leaders and leaders of opposition parties, he sought public support for the protection of democracy and voter rights.
NDA's Position Weak
Citing the election figures of the Grand Alliance and the NDA, Kanhaiya Kumar said that last time there was a difference of only 12,000 votes between the two. He said, “Therefore, it would not be correct to say that the NDA's position is b. Amit Shah had earlier said that all paths were closed for Nitish Kumar, but later he himself indicated standing with Nitish Kumar. The BJP knows very well that it will not be able to achieve a majority on its own.”
He also said that the Grand Alliance is not just a political alliance, but an effort to protect democracy and the rights of the people. “We are committed to protecting the rights of the people and democracy. The roles of Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and other leaders are as important in this effort as the roles of all the leaders involved in the alliance,” said Kanhaiya.
Questions on Voter List and SIR Process
Kanhaiya Kumar also raised questions about irregularities in the voter list and the SIR (Systematic Integration of Rolls) process. He said that when Rahul Gandhi gave evidence to the Election Commission, the Commission admitted that there was a problem and the SIR process was being started to correct it. “But the question is, under whose pressure is the Election Commission refraining from taking action on those proofs?” He also warned that tampering with democracy and voter rights would not be tolerated.
Issue of CCTV Footage and Privacy of Polling Booths
Referring to the press conference of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Kanhaiya Kumar said that the Election Commission is washing its hands by saying that the CCTV footage of polling booths is a matter of privacy. Kanhaiya clarified that this is not personal data; only the record of polling booths has been requested to ensure transparency in the voting process.
Grand Alliance's Effort to Save Democracy
Kanhaiya Kumar, starting his journey from Sasaram, said, 'The Grand Alliance is not just a political platform but an effort to save democracy. In this, the role of Rahul Gandhi is as important as that of Tejashwi Yadav and other leaders.' Citing the growing acceptance of the Grand Alliance among the public, he said that the public is supporting this alliance to protect democracy and their rights.
Kanhaiya Kumar appealed to the public to exercise their right to vote properly. He said that the goal of the Grand Alliance is not only to gain power but also to protect democracy and the rights of the people. He also said that the alliance's efforts will be successful and they will form the government by winning a majority.
