Kanpur city stands on the dangerous brink of illegally stored firecrackers. A single small mistake could push the entire city to the edge of destruction. A recent explosion has highlighted the seriousness of this danger.

On Wednesday evening, two scooters exploded in Mishri Bazaar on Mestan Road, injuring several people and damaging buildings.

Anticipating an increase in firecracker consumption about 20 days before Diwali, traders procure large quantities of firecrackers from other districts.

Illegal firecrackers are stored on a large scale in areas like Nawabganj, Dabauli, Govind Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Barra, and others, but police vigilance is low.

When the bomb disposal squad investigated the explosion site, they found a large number of firecrackers and illegal materials.

Traders initially refused to provide information to the investigation team, but their activities came to light when the forensic squad conducted a search.

The illegal firecracker trade is controlled by a very b syndicate, which has forced the closure of the wholesale market so that their firecrackers can be sold easily.

Mestan Road has become the main hub of this trade. The shops and alleys connected to it manage this entire business.
