Kejriwal Slams BJP's 30-Year Rule in Gujarat By-Election Campaign

Arvind Kejriwal Targets BJP in Visavadar By-election in Gujarat

Arvind Kejriwal, during the Visavadar by-election campaign in Gujarat, criticized the BJP's 30-year rule, alleging it has set Gujarat back by 50 years. He urged voters to support AAP candidate Gopal Italia.

Gujarat Assembly By-Election 2025: The political atmosphere in Gujarat is highly charged leading up to the Visavadar by-election. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal denounced the BJP's three-decade-long governance as a failure, and appealed for public support for Gopal Italia, describing him as a symbol of integrity.

Kejriwal's Attack Against BJP

The Aam Aadmi Party has invested heavily in the Visavadar seat for the Gujarat Assembly By-election 2025. Addressing a public gathering in Khadiya village on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal asserted that the BJP's 30-year tenure has regressed Gujarat by 50 years. He highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by Gujarati citizens for access to electricity, water, roads, and employment opportunities.

'The World Moves Forward, Gujarat Moves Backward'

Kejriwal stated in his address, "After World War II, Japan rebuilt itself; Singapore, in 30 years, became a world leader. However, in 30 years of BJP rule, Gujarat has only been pushed towards darkness."

Questioning the State of Roads

Citing the 125-kilometer journey from Rajkot to Junagadh, Kejriwal mentioned that the trip took him three and a half hours. He stated, "The world is building excellent roads, but in Gujarat, the roads are in such a condition that vehicles cannot exceed 40 kilometers per hour."

Targeting Electricity and Employment

Kejriwal also criticized the government's handling of the electricity crisis and the employment situation. He pointed out the lack of electricity during a public meeting in Kalsari village. He alleged that both rural and urban areas suffer from poor electricity and road infrastructure. He further accused the government of exam paper leaks and a lack of job opportunities for the youth, adding that farmers are also struggling to get adequate electricity, water, and fair prices for their crops.

'BJP Betrayed the Public'

Kejriwal claimed that the BJP has repeatedly disregarded the public mandate. "The people of Visavadar elected Harshad Ribdiya and then AAP's Bhupat, but the BJP absorbed both into their party. This is a betrayal of public trust," he stated.

Confidence in Gopal Italia

Arvind Kejriwal expressed confidence in Gopal Italia, AAP's candidate for Visavadar, describing him as an honest and steadfast leader. He highlighted Italia's past service in the Gujarat Police, emphasizing his resignation to pursue social service. Kejriwal also mentioned that Italia had resisted substantial financial offers from the BJP.
