Entertainment: Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon is known for her acting as well as for openly expressing her views publicly. She often raises her voice against gender discrimination and inequalities in the film industry. Now, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has appointed Kriti Sanon as its ambassador to promote Gender Equality in India.

In this role, Kriti will collaborate with her peers to brainstorm solutions that help women and girls learn, lead, and advance. Additionally, this initiative will strengthen UNFPA's mission for equality.

Kriti Sanon's Message: Equality Begins at Home

The objective of this UNFPA initiative is to provide education, leadership, and equal opportunities to women and girls. Kriti Sanon said in an interview with Mirror:

'We often hear that families do not have enough resources to educate both their son and daughter, so they prioritize the son. This mindset is wrong. Every child should receive equal opportunities for education and career choices. My parents never made me feel like I was a girl. That is why I always felt that men and women are equal.'

Kriti also mentioned that she and her sister, Nupur Sanon, were raised with complete freedom and equal opportunities. She stated that her parents never limited her dreams. People used to say that because I am a girl, I want to be an actress, so I won't be able to get married. But my parents never paid attention to this.

When you see both your parents working and managing the household, you realize that gender roles are merely a social construct.

Kriti Sanon's Contribution with UNFPA

As UNFPA's ambassador, Kriti Sanon's role will be to ensure equal opportunities for women and girls and to spread awareness towards equality. She will work to eliminate gender-based discrimination among the youth and in society. Kriti said that the message of equality should begin at home so that children understand from a young age that their merit and hard work in any field do not depend on their gender.
