Kutch: Continuous rain in Gujarat's Kutch district since Sunday night has created a flood-like situation. Many rivers, lakes, and dams in the district are overflowing. The entire Dhorado area, where the Kutch Run festival is organized every year, has also submerged due to waterlogging. The administration has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and warned that water may enter low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for all of Kutch and districts adjacent to the Pakistan border in North Gujarat.
The water situation is critical in many parts of Kutch district. Rapar has recorded 15 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, leading to flood-like conditions in the city and surrounding villages. Water is flowing on the roads in rural areas, affecting traffic.
Rann of Kutch Submerged Due to Heavy Rainfall
The famous Rann of Kutch has also been submerged due to heavy rainfall. Water is spread far and wide in the Rann, affecting its natural beauty as well as the lives of local residents. Schools and Roads Closed in Kutch
Following instructions from the Collector of Kutch district, schools in the district will remain closed on September 8 in view of heavy rainfall and waterlogging. Additionally, seven main highway roads in the district have been closed for vehicular traffic. Citizens have been requested not to travel on these routes and to cooperate with rescue operations.
Heavy rainfall continues in several districts of Saurashtra as well. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for districts in Saurashtra. An orange alert has been issued for districts in North Gujarat, and a yellow alert for the remaining districts.
Preparations by Administration and Meteorological Department in Kutch
