Lavrov Advocates for RIC Framework Reactivation, Accuses NATO of Anti-China Schemes

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov advocates for the reactivation of the RIC framework, expresses satisfaction with the India-China border situation, and accuses NATO of entangling India in anti-China conspiracies.

New Delhi: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has hinted at a new direction for the growing relationships between Russia, India, and China. He stated that the time has come to reactivate the Russia-India-China (RIC) framework. This statement not only emphasized the need for trilateral cooperation but also targeted NATO, accusing it of involving India in anti-China schemes. Lavrov's statement is considered highly significant for India's international role and its foreign policy.

'The Time Has Come' - Message on Reactivating RIC

Quoting the Russian state news agency TASS, Lavrov said, "I would like to express our interest in resuming work in the Russia-India-China format as soon as possible." He noted that this framework, initiated years ago by former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov, has held over 20 meetings at various levels, involving foreign policy chiefs and heads of economic, trade, and financial agencies from all three countries.

India, China, and Russia: A New Chapter in Diplomatic Partnership

Lavrov made this statement during an international conference in Perm, Russia, focusing on security and cooperation in Eurasia (Europe and Asia). He stated that the situation regarding the India-China border dispute has largely calmed, and based on this understanding, the time is ripe to reactivate RIC.
