A horrifying incident unfolded in the Alambagh area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday night. A young man, driven by a domestic dispute, brutally murdered his mother-in-law and father-in-law by stabbing them. The incident caused chaos in the area. The accused was apprehended at the scene with the help of local residents and handed over to the police.
Son-in-law unleashed terror after a fight with his wife
According to the police, the accused, Jagdeep, is a resident of Nishatganj and is addicted to alcohol. He married a young woman named Poonam about ten years ago. Their relationship had been strained since the wedding. Tired of daily beatings and mistreatment, Poonam, along with her three-year-old son, had moved to her parents' home in April and had been living with them in the Garhi Kanaura area since then.
On Wednesday night, around 9:30 PM, Jagdeep reached his in-laws' house in an intoxicated state. He asked Poonam to return home, but the argument escalated, and the fight turned physical. He did not spare Poonam's parents, Anant Ram and Asha Devi, who came to intervene. He first pushed all three of them down, then took a knife out of his bag and launched a series of attacks on Anant Ram and Asha Devi.
Neighbors rushed and caught him
Hearing the commotion, the surrounding residents arrived at the scene, but by then, Anant Ram and Asha Devi were lying on the ground covered in blood. The accused tried to escape, but the neighbors caught him and informed the police. The injured couple was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ashish Srivastava said that the deceased Anant Ram was a retired Head Constable from the Railway RPSF, while Poonam is a teacher at a school. A murder case has been registered against the accused Jagdeep based on Poonam's complaint, and the police are thoroughly investigating the matter.
