A serious case of alleged reckless and high-speed driving has been reported in Lucknow. According to the allegations, a Thar SUV without a number plate collided with a motorcycle and dragged it for nearly 100 metres. The incident caused panic at the scene. Local residents chased the vehicle's occupants and detained two young men, while three others, including a young woman, reportedly fled the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was severe, causing the motorcycle riders to fall onto the road while the vehicle continued dragging the motorcycle for a considerable distance. People present nearby immediately assisted the injured persons and informed the police. A large crowd gathered at the scene following the incident.
Local residents alleged that some of the occupants of the Thar attempted to flee after the accident. During the pursuit, passersby apprehended two young men and handed them over to the police. Three other individuals, including a young woman, reportedly escaped. Police are working to identify and trace them.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot, seized the damaged motorcycle and the Thar SUV, and initiated an investigation. The scene was inspected, and CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being examined to establish the sequence of events.
According to police officials, the investigation is also examining why the vehicle did not have a number plate and who was driving it at the time of the accident. Authorities are also verifying the vehicle's registration, ownership, and other legal documents.
The injured persons were taken to a hospital for primary medical treatment. Further legal provisions may be determined based on their medical condition. Police are also recording statements from the individuals concerned.
Officials said the matter remains under investigation. Further action will be taken based on available evidence, CCTV footage, and eyewitness statements. If negligence by the driver or any other violation of the law is established, strict legal action will be initiated.
Police are currently conducting searches to trace the absconding accused, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
