Lucknow has received the monsoon, with light to moderate rainfall continuing across most parts of the city since Wednesday morning. Dense clouds and cool winds have brought a change in weather conditions after several days of heat and humidity. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for the city and adjoining areas, advising people to remain cautious during changing weather conditions.

The rainfall that began in the morning has caused temperatures in the city to fall below normal. After days of intense sunshine and humid conditions, the weather has become pleasant. People in parks, markets and residential areas experienced relief from the heat. Children and young people were also seen enjoying the rain at several locations.

The rainfall also affected traffic movement across the city. Vehicle speeds slowed on several major roads, while traffic pressure increased at some locations during office hours. Mild waterlogging was reported in low-lying areas. However, municipal corporation teams are monitoring the drainage system to minimise inconvenience to residents.

According to the weather department, an active monsoon system is expected to bring intermittent rainfall to Lucknow and nearby areas over the next few days. Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and b winds is possible at some places. In view of the forecast, the department has issued a yellow alert and advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.

Experts said the monsoon rainfall has also brought relief for farmers. Adequate soil moisture is expected to support the sowing of paddy and other kharif crops, helping agricultural activities. However, farmers have been advised to monitor crops in waterlogged areas if rainfall continues.

Health experts have advised people to take precautions as the weather changes. Continuous rainfall and falling temperatures may increase the risk of cold, viral infections and seasonal illnesses. People have been advised to drink clean water, change into dry clothes immediately after getting wet, and take special care of children and elderly people.

The administration has directed officials of the municipal corporation, power department and disaster management authorities to remain on alert. The departments concerned have been instructed to keep necessary preparations in place to deal with possible situations such as waterlogging, fallen trees and disruption of electricity supply.

The onset of the monsoon has changed weather conditions across Lucknow. Drizzle and cool winds since morning have provided relief from humid weather. The weather department has forecast that rainfall is likely to continue over the coming days and has advised residents to follow the yellow alert and take necessary precautions.
