The Maharashtra government has taken stringent action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. CM Fadnavis has issued directives to prepare a blacklist, verify ration cards, and issue new guidelines to ensure security and welfare in the state.
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has taken strict measures concerning the escalating issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state. Following directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state administration has ordered the preparation of a blacklist for Bangladeshi infiltrators and ensured the verification of their ration cards. Concurrently, strict guidelines have also been issued for new ration cards.
The government has clarified that the increasing number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants poses security threats. Consequently, all concerned departments have been instructed to prepare a blacklist and ensure that illegal immigrants cannot avail themselves of any government welfare schemes.
Instructions to ATS and Government Departments
As per the Maharashtra government's directives, the ATS has been asked to submit a report on measures taken after conducting internal brainstorming sessions. The ATS must ensure that no documents belonging to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants are used for government welfare schemes.
The government has also ordered the scrutiny and verification of documents for a list of 1,274 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. If any official document is found to have been issued in the name of an immigrant, it will be immediately cancelled, suspended, or deactivated. Furthermore, a quarterly report on this will be sent to the government.
Strict Rules Implemented in Ration Card Verification
The Maharashtra government stated that if a ration card is being distributed based on the recommendation of a local representative, strict verification of the applicant's documents and place of residence will be conducted. Stringent guidelines will be adopted for all processes related to new ration cards.
This step will ensure that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants cannot benefit from any government schemes, thereby safeguarding the state's security and ensuring proper utilization of resources.
List of Illegal Immigrants to be Released Online
The government has also stated that a list of apprehended illegal Bangladeshi immigrants will be published on the department's official website. This will enable regional and divisional offices to remain vigilant and monitor illegal immigrants. This measure aims to enhance control over illegal immigrants and improve administrative transparency in Maharashtra.
