Lishalini Kanaran, an Indian-origin model and actress residing in Malaysia, recently shared a post on social media, leveling serious accusations against an Indian priest.
Temple Molestation Case: Lishalinie Kanaran, a well-known model and actress from Malaysia, has accused an Indian-origin priest of severe sexual harassment. Her post on social media following the incident has sparked widespread discussion and outrage. Lishalini alleges that the priest engaged in inappropriate behavior with her under the guise of religious rituals when she visited a temple to pray.
Lishalini was alone in the temple
Lishalini made these allegations through a detailed post on her social media account. She wrote that the incident occurred on June 21, 2025, when she went to the temple alone in the absence of her mother. She had been trying to understand and learn religious traditions in recent weeks. "I haven't been very religious all my life. But recently, I was learning to go to the temple and pray. That day, I was alone and went to the same temple I had been visiting. There was a priest there who often told me the rituals of worship," Lishalini wrote.
Called to the office under the pretext of holy water and thread
The model stated that there was a large crowd at the temple that day, and the same priest was on duty. He told Lishalini that he had holy water and a special thread brought from India for her, which she needed to wear. He made her wait for about an hour and a half and then called her to an office room in the temple. "I felt something was wrong, but I was new to all of this, so I kept going," she said.
Taking her to the office, the priest began to sprinkle a bly scented liquid, claiming it was "holy water," on her face. According to Lishalini, it was so b that she couldn't even open her eyes. Then, he asked her to lift her Punjabi suit, which Lishalini refused. "I said my blouse is tight; I can't lift it." He got angry and said it was all for my good. After this, he started touching me under the pretext of chanting mantras from behind me and suddenly put his hand into my blouse.
Complaint to the police, allegations against temple management
Lishalini stated that she filed a complaint at the local police station immediately after the incident. However, she also revealed that police officials had warned her to remain silent on social media, as victims are often blamed in society. The police said, "If you post this on social media, people will blame you." But it was no longer possible to remain silent. "I want to raise my voice."
She has also claimed that the temple management is trying to suppress the entire matter. According to her post, the temple administration has not taken any strict action against the priest so far.
