During a wedding ceremony, a man died after suffering an electric shock while serving refreshments to guests in the wedding procession. His family concealed the news of his death from the bride and most relatives until after her farewell ceremony so that the marriage rituals could be completed without interruption.
According to the information available, arrangements were being made to welcome the wedding procession and serve refreshments when the deceased, along with other family members, was attending to the guests. While delivering refreshments, he reportedly came into contact with an electrical device or an exposed live wire, resulting in a severe electric shock.
The shock caused him to collapse after sustaining serious injuries at the spot. Family members and local residents immediately took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
The family was informed of the sudden death while the main wedding rituals were still underway and the bride was in the wedding pavilion. Family elders decided not to disclose the news to the bride until the marriage ceremonies had been completed.
Some family members then took the body for a post-mortem examination, while others continued with the wedding arrangements in an effort to maintain normalcy. At the time the bride and groom were performing the wedding rituals, the deceased's post-mortem examination was being conducted. While one part of the family completed the wedding ceremonies, others prepared for the deceased's final rites.
The family ensured that the news did not reach the bride until all farewell rituals had concluded. After the bride's departure ceremony was completed, she was informed of her brother's death.
Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and completed the required legal formalities. Following the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family.
In the preliminary investigation, police have treated the case as an accidental death caused by electrocution. They stated that if the investigation establishes negligence in the electrical arrangements or identifies any person responsible, action will be taken against those concerned in accordance with the law.
Local residents said temporary electrical connections, exposed wires and electrical equipment used during wedding functions should be handled with caution. Experts also said electrical installations at such events should be inspected in advance to help prevent similar incidents.
