Mayawati Attacks BJP and Congress Over Caste Census Decision

Political tensions have intensified regarding the central government's move towards a caste census. Meanwhile, Mayawati, the supremo of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), launched a sharp attack via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Caste Census: The political climate in India has become charged over the caste census. Following the central government's recent announcement, while the opposition and ruling party vie for credit, Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has issued a bly worded statement. She unequivocally targeted both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, labeling them as "two sides of the same coin." Mayawati questioned the intentions and policies of both parties in her post on X.

Both BJP and Congress are Anti-Bahujan Samaj

In her post, Mayawati wrote that this is the first time since 1931 that a caste census is being considered, but Congress has forgotten that it deprived Dalits and OBCs of their constitutional rights after independence. She stated that this "dark history" of Congress led to its ouster from power.

Mayawati termed Congress's professed love for OBCs as self-serving and deceptive, stating that now, out of power, it is feigning concern to garner Bahujan Samaj votes. She also launched a scathing attack on the BJP, claiming that it is no less opposed to the constitution and reservation policies than Congress.

Both parties, she alleged, aim to weaken and ultimately abolish the reservation system. She accused them of consistently attempting to thwart Babasaheb Ambedkar's mission of self-respect and dignity.

BJP Yields to Public Demand; A Welcome Move

However, Mayawati also responded positively to the decision on the caste census. She stated that the BJP finally yielded to the b public demand and pressure. While welcoming the central government's decision to conduct a caste census—a long-standing demand of the Bahujan Samaj—she cautioned against overlooking the underlying reality.

She urged the public not to be misled by mere announcements regarding the caste census, but to vigilantly assess the extent to which this process will be genuinely implemented.

Continued Ambiguity Regarding OBC Rights; If Intentions Were Clear…

Mayawati further wrote that if the BJP and Congress genuinely cared for the Bahujan community, the OBCs would have already achieved their rightful share in national development. She questioned whether Babasaheb Ambedkar's mission of self-respect and dignity had truly been realized. She asserted that these political parties have only paid token respect by awarding Babasaheb Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna, while neglecting his ideals and values.

Mayawati also alleged that both the BJP and Congress are now attempting to woo the OBC community under the guise of the caste census, with the Lok Sabha elections approaching. She stated that this caste census has become a political tool, used by both parties to further their own interests.
