Meenakshi Hooda Clinches Gold at World Boxing Championship, Defeating Kazakh Opponent

Meenakshi Hooda from Haryana has brought glory to India by winning a gold medal at the World Boxing Championship in England. The hard work and support of her auto-rickshaw driver father and family played a significant role in her success.

World Boxing Championship 2025: Meenakshi Hooda from the small village of Rurki in the Bhiwani district of Haryana has brought honor to the country by winning a gold medal at the World Championship held in England. In the final, she defeated Kazakh boxer Nazym Kaisebe by a split decision of 4:1. With this victory, India secured its second gold medal in the tournament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Meenakshi on this achievement and praised her valor.

Meenakshi's Talent Shines Amidst Poverty and Societal Fears

Meenakshi's father, Krishan, is an auto-rickshaw driver. In her childhood, due to financial constraints and societal apprehension, he tried to dissuade his daughter from pursuing boxing. People in society would say that if a girl boxed, her face would be disfigured, making it difficult for her to get married. Despite this, Meenakshi's mother, Sunita, secretly trained her daughter in the sport, away from her father's knowledge.

Meenakshi's hard work and her family's support have proven that despite societal barriers and economic hardships, nothing is impossible with determination and effort. Her father is immensely proud of his daughter's success today and states that there is no difference between a boy and a girl; all that is needed is the right direction and support.

Meenakshi Wins Gold Medal

In the 57 kg category, Meenakshi won the gold medal by defeating Kazakh boxer Nazym Kaisebe 4:1. This victory not only brought laurels to India on the world stage but also gave new recognition to Indian women's boxing. Earlier in the tournament, other Indian players had also won medals, including Jasmine, who secured a gold medal by defeating Poland's Olympic medalist Julia, and Nupur, who won a silver medal in the 80+ kg category.

Meenakshi's win has demonstrated the extent to which Indian youth, especially women, can achieve success at the international level through their talent and hard work. Her confidence and technical skills in the final were remarkable.

Meenakshi's Success Through Family Support

Meenakshi's father, Krishan, shared that he had to endure taunts from society regarding his daughter's sport. Many people used to say that a girl's future and marriage would be affected by her participation in sports. Despite this, he provided whatever he could for Meenakshi – milk, fruits, and proper nutrition. He believes that his daughter's victory has earned him an auto-rickshaw and it is a moment of pride for the family.

Meenakshi's mother, Sunita, is also emotional. She said that she never imagined her daughter would achieve such a significant milestone. Despite societal fears and criticisms, the mother always encouraged her daughter and stood by her.
