The police arrested the accused, Karthik, from Kollegal in Chamarajanagar. The incident occurred when the girl's mother woke up and found her daughter missing, after which her body was discovered 50 meters away. The accused had previously been jailed for a sexual offense and had been released just four months prior. The police tracked down the accused with the help of CCTV footage and technical evidence.

CCTV Footage Led to Accused's Capture

During the investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage from the area, which showed the accused, Karthik, taking the girl away. The accused's location was traced with the help of technical evidence. Police stated that after the incident, Karthik fled by bus. He was arrested from Kollegal bus stand in Chamarajanagar district.

Accused's Previous Criminal Record

Police stated that Karthik had previously been jailed for a sexual offense. He was sentenced to two years for attempted rape of a woman in Mandya district. He had been released from jail just four months prior.
