West Asia tensions have triggered political exchanges in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the situation remains under control, while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi warned of a potential “Economic Earthquake,” raising concerns over inflation and fuel prices.
Speaking at an event in Vav-Tharad in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the evolving situation in West Asia is impacting the entire world, particularly the energy sector, where global challenges related to the supply of petrol, diesel and gas are increasing. He stated that despite these global difficulties, India has managed to keep the situation under control through its b foreign policy and internal unity. According to him, the government is continuously monitoring developments and taking steps as required.
During his address, the Prime Minister also levelled allegations against the Congress, stating that the opposition is attempting to derive political advantage from the crisis. He said that the Congress is spreading fear and confusion among the public and alleged that some political parties are waiting for the situation to worsen in order to benefit from it.

In contrast, addressing a rally in Kozhikode, Kerala, Rahul Gandhi issued a warning regarding the economic implications of the developments in West Asia. He stated that the situation is not merely a regional conflict but one that will have global consequences. According to him, the situation is deteriorating and there is uncertainty over how and where it will end.
Referring to the developments as an “Economic Earthquake,” Rahul Gandhi said that India must be prepared for the potential impact.
He also raised concerns about inflation and fuel prices, stating that an escalation in tensions in West Asia could lead to a rise in oil and gas prices, which would directly affect India. According to him, higher prices of petrol, diesel and gas would increase household expenditure and could accelerate inflation. He said that this could develop into a broader financial crisis affecting the country’s economy.
Rahul Gandhi also questioned both the central government and the Kerala state government. He said it is not clear what concrete steps the central government is taking to address the situation. He also asked what measures the Kerala government is implementing to ensure the safety of its citizens and maintain economic stability.
