Mohan Bhagwat outlines Ram Rajya concept at Nagpur event marking Ayodhya temple construction

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed a Nagpur event organised to honour contributions to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir construction, outlining the concept of Ram Rajya and emphasising collective societal participation in governance and nation-building.

The Dr. Hedgewar Smarak Samiti organised a felicitation programme at Reshimbagh in Nagpur to honour contributions made towards the construction of the temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and the consecration of Ram Lalla and the religious flag.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, addressing the event, spoke on the concept of “Ram Rajya” and said that an ideal system of governance does not depend solely on the qualities of the ruler but is shaped by the conduct and participation of every individual in society.

The address was delivered at a ceremony attended by several prominent individuals, including Govind Dev Giri and Suresh Joshi. The event was organised to recognise efforts associated with the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Bhagwat said that the construction of the temple was not the result of any single individual or organisation but represented collective efforts. Drawing a parallel with the narrative of Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan mountain, he said that the participation of all was essential. He added that large tasks are completed only when everyone contributes their part.

He also referred to India’s global role, stating that the country’s rise is not limited to economic or political dimensions but extends to cultural and spiritual aspects. According to him, India’s identity is rooted in its values and traditions, through which it can offer direction to the world.

Bhagwat said that thinkers such as Sri Aurobindo had spoken about India’s resurgence and that the process appears to be gaining momentum in the present period.

Referring to political developments, he said that the country has passed through multiple phases in defining its identity and has taken a new direction in recent decades. He indicated that developments in contemporary India, particularly after 2014, reflect an increase in national confidence, while adding that nation-building remains an ongoing process requiring participation from all sections of society.

He said that “Ram Rajya” is not established solely because of an ideal ruler but also because of ideal citizens. Referring to the Ramayana, he said it describes not only the qualities of Lord Ram but also the conduct of the people of that time.

According to Bhagwat, if every individual follows principles of morality, discipline and responsibility in personal and social life, it forms the foundation of “Ram Rajya”. He appealed to people to adopt these values and work towards positive change within their spheres of influence.
