Monsoon Brings Relief from Scorching Heat Across North and West India

Monsoon has arrived in various parts of the country, bringing a significant change in weather. States in northern India, in particular, have experienced relief from the scorching heat and humidity due to the rainfall.

IMD Weather Update: The monsoon has finally gained momentum across the country. Heavy rainfall in many parts of North and West India has provided much-needed respite from the oppressive heat and humidity. States like Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh have witnessed a sudden change in weather, offering relief to the heat-stricken population.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts for the next few days, indicating that this spell of rain is not likely to end soon.

Delhi Receives a Welcome Shower

The rain in Delhi on Monday night and Tuesday morning provided a cool and welcome respite. At 8:45 AM, dark clouds were heavily present in Chirag Delhi and surrounding areas. The temperature dropped by 3-4 degrees. Prior to this, Delhi residents had been enduring several days of intense humidity and heat.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain. Strong winds, with speeds of 50-60 km/h, are expected, potentially affecting flight operations and traffic.

Rajasthan: Waterfalls Resume Flow, Roads Inundated

Monsoon has arrived in several districts of Rajasthan. Heavy rain fell in Ajmer from late Monday night to Tuesday morning, causing waterlogging on several main roads, including Jaipur Road. Traffic jams and slippery roads caused significant inconvenience to people. Waterfalls in Rajsamand and Kumbhalgarh have revived. The water flow in the Hanuman Pol area of Kumbhalgarh was so b that locals and tourists gathered to witness it.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for these two districts until June 18th. The administration has urged caution, warning of heavy rainfall and waterlogging.

Smiles on Farmers' Faces in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh

Intermittent rain since Tuesday morning in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, has proved beneficial for farmers. This rainfall is particularly advantageous for paddy transplantation. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert and anticipates continued rainfall throughout the day. Farmers have been advised on water management in their fields to prevent crop damage from excessive water. Warnings have also been issued regarding lightning strikes.

Relief from Cool Winds in Hisar, Haryana

Hisar, Haryana, which had been suffering from scorching heat for several days, experienced a change in weather on Tuesday. Cloudy skies and light rain resulted in a 3-4 degree drop in temperature. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain until June 21st, suggesting pleasant weather in the coming days.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Bengal and Northeast India

Rain has also arrived in parts of West Bengal and Northeast India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in southern parts of Bengal on June 18th. Kolkata is expected to experience heavy rainfall on June 18th and 19th. Extremely heavy rainfall is forecast for Northeast India, particularly Meghalaya, on June 18th and 19th. There is a risk of waterlogging and landslides in these areas.

Many districts in Bihar, including Patna, have yet to receive relief from the heat, but the Meteorological Department expects the southwest monsoon to arrive within the next 3-5 days. Despite a drop in temperature, the 'feel-like' temperature remains high.
