MP Demands CBI Inquiry into Noida Constable's Murder, Alleges Police Harassment

MP Chandrashekhar demands CBI inquiry into the murder of Noida Constable Saurabh, expressing dissatisfaction with the police investigation. He appealed against harassing innocent individuals.

UP News: The murder of Noida police constable Saurabh has taken a political turn. Nagina Lok Sabha MP and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter, leveling serious accusations against the police for allegedly harassing innocent people.

Chandrashekhar visited Nahal village in the Masuri police station area of Ghaziabad on Friday, where police action has been ongoing since Constable Saurabh's murder. He spoke with villagers and listened to their accounts. He later told the media that the police are trying to portray the entire village as criminal.

Demand for CBI Inquiry Raised

Speaking to the media, Chandrashekhar Azad said, "If the entire village is criminal, then put everyone in jail. Don't harass innocent people. The police action is one-sided and oppressive. An impartial investigation should be conducted, and a CBI inquiry is necessary for this."

He also stated that the footage from CCTV cameras installed in the village should be made public to reveal the truth. Chandrashekhar alleges that the police are forcibly detaining and torturing the village youth, creating an atmosphere of terror in the entire village.

What is the Case?

On the night of May 25th, a Noida Commissionerate police team from Phase-3 police station arrived in Nahal village in Ghaziabad's Masuri police station area to apprehend a suspect, Kadir, who was accused in several criminal cases and had been absconding for a long time.

The situation escalated when the police arrived to raid the village. Villagers began pelting stones and firing at the police team. Constable Saurabh was shot in the head and died at the scene. Another constable, Sonit, was seriously injured.

Police Action Following the Attack

Following the constable's death, the police department sprang into action. Noida and Ghaziabad police launched a large-scale search operation in the village and have arrested more than 10 people so far. This includes Kadir's cousin.

Police claim they are only acting against those whose involvement has come to light. However, villagers allege that the police are arresting innocent people and creating an atmosphere of fear.

Chandrashekhar's Strong Stance

During his visit to the village, Chandrashekhar Azad stated that this is not just a matter of police action but may also be an attempt to target a specific community. He said, "If the government and police are impartial, they should not shy away from a CBI inquiry." He warned that if the police do not stop harassing innocents, he will raise the issue in Parliament and, if necessary, launch a nationwide movement.
