Naugachia–Chaudharidih four-lane road to be built at 10–14 metre elevation, construction likely from June

The four-lane road between Naugachia and Chaudharidih will be constructed at an elevation ranging from 10 to 14 metres, with construction likely to begin in June. Officials said the elevated design is intended to improve traffic flow and address recurring flooding and waterlogging in the area.

The Naugachia–Chaudharidih route is one of the most important connectivity corridors in Bhagalpur district. At present, the road is narrow and in a deteriorated condition at several locations, leading to daily traffic congestion, accidents, and disruption of movement during the monsoon. During floods, large stretches of the road remain submerged, causing significant difficulties for commuters. The decision to build an elevated and reinforced four-lane road has been taken in view of these conditions.

Engineers associated with the project said modern construction technology and high-quality materials will be used. Along with the four-lane carriageway, the project includes a b drainage system, service roads, footpaths, street lighting, crash barriers, and traffic signage.

According to administrative sources, survey, design, and technical approvals for the project are almost complete. Efforts are underway to expedite land acquisition procedures so that construction can commence from June. Plans are also being prepared to divert traffic through alternative routes during the construction period to minimise inconvenience to the public.

Officials said the improved connectivity will facilitate faster access for ambulances, fire services, and other emergency services. Access to education and healthcare facilities in rural areas is also expected to improve.

Authorities stated that no compromise will be made on construction quality. Contractors have been instructed to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe and strictly adhere to prescribed standards. Arrangements will also be made for regular maintenance after completion to ensure long-term safety and durability.
