Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Lausanne Diamond League 2026 javelin throw with a season-best effort of 88.05 metres, missing the title by 9 centimetres. Sri Lanka’s Rumesha Tharanga won the event with a best throw of 88.14 metres, while Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished third with 86.69 metres.
In the nine-athlete final in Lausanne, Chopra recorded his 88.05-metre throw on his second attempt. The effort was his best of the current season and kept him in contention for the top position for much of the competition. Tharanga moved ahead of Chopra with his third attempt of 88.14 metres.

The 88.05-metre effort was Chopra’s best performance in approximately 14 months. He had previously recorded 88.16 metres at the Paris Diamond League in June last year. Chopra did not come close to his personal best, but crossed the 88-metre mark in Lausanne.
Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesha Tharanga, 23, won the competition with an 88.14-metre effort on his third attempt. His throw surpassed Chopra’s 88.05 metres by 9 centimetres.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished third with a best throw of 86.69 metres. His top effort came on his sixth and final attempt, securing him a place on the podium.
