NIRF Ranking 2025: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 will be released tomorrow, September 4, 2025, by the Ministry of Education. The NIRF rankings are a significant standard for assessing the quality and performance of educational institutions in the country. Rankings to Be Issued Across 16 Categories

IIT Madras's Dominance for Six Consecutive Years

For the past six years, IIT Madras has consistently held the top position in the overall category nationwide. Following it were IISc Bengaluru in second place and IIT Bombay in third. This demonstrates IIT Madras's sustained strength in excellent education and research.

Top Institutions in the Overall Category Last Year

Last year, seven IIT institutions were among the top 10 in the overall category. These included IIT Madras, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. This list highlights the prominence of IITs and medical institutions among the country's higher education bodies.

Ranking for Open Universities Also Commenced

Since last year, the Ministry of Education has also initiated rankings for all open universities across the country. In this category, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, secured the first position, Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata, came in second, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad, ranked third. Delhi Colleges Show Dominance

Delhi-based colleges performed exceptionally well in last year's college rankings, with five of them featuring in the top 10 colleges. Hindu College was ranked first, Miranda House second, St. Stephen's College fourth, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College fifth, Kirori Mal College ninth, and Lady Shri Ram College for Women tenth. This indicates that Delhi colleges have consistently maintained a b presence in higher education and academic performance.
