Janata Dal (United) National President Nitish Kumar today took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan. On this occasion, 26 ministers also took the oath alongside him.

Along with the Chief Minister, 26 new ministers also took the oath of office and secrecy at the swearing-in ceremony. This ceremony is considered significant from a political and administrative perspective.
Nitish Kumar's Career and Journey to Becoming Chief Minister
The 74-year-old Nitish Kumar first became the Chief Minister of Bihar in the year 2000. However, his first term lasted only eight days. Subsequently, his second term began in 2005, and he continuously led the state until 2014. After the poor performance of JD(U) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he resigned, but he took the oath of Chief Minister again a short while later.

Nitish Kumar had also taken oath as Chief Minister in January 2024 when his party returned to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This record 10th swearing-in places him among Bihar's most experienced leaders.

Details of the Swearing-in Ceremony
Several senior central and state leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda, and other top leaders of the NDA were present on this occasion. Nitish Kumar, in his address, stated that the development of the state, social justice, and good governance would be given paramount importance. He affirmed that the new cabinet government is committed to living up to the trust and expectations of the public.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, 26 ministers took their oath of office. In this new cabinet, responsibilities for various departments have been assigned for state development, education, health, road construction, rural development, and social welfare.
