Former Bollywood actress and renowned star of the film ‘Dangal,’ Zaira Wasim, expressed her displeasure over the incident. On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
‘A woman’s dignity and respect are not toys to be played with. Especially not on a public platform. As a Muslim woman, witnessing another woman’s veil being pulled so carelessly, and coupled with that nonchalant smile, was deeply disturbing. Power does not permit the transgression of boundaries. Nitish Kumar should unconditionally apologize to the woman.’

During a ceremony held in Patna on Monday, appointment letters were being distributed to over 1,000 newly appointed आयुष (AYUSH) doctors. Dr. Nusrat was among those present. As the Chief Minister handed her the appointment letter, he suddenly questioned, "What is this?" upon seeing the doctor’s hijab, and then proceeded to pull the doctor’s hijab on stage. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is also seen in the video attempting to stop him, but Nitish Kumar continued his actions. His smiling face during the incident was also captured on camera.
As soon as the video went viral on social media, people bly criticized the Chief Minister’s behavior. Opposition parties also expressed their displeasure over the incident. Social media users described it as a violation of women’s rights and an abuse of power.
