OnePlus has announced changes to its software strategy and global business operations. The company will replace OxygenOS with ColorOS and will discontinue launching new devices in the United States and Europe. OnePlus also confirmed that India remains one of its most important markets and that all business operations in the country will continue as usual.
OnePlus has officially announced the discontinuation of its Android interface, OxygenOS. According to the company, ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, will become the default operating system for all future OnePlus smartphones. Existing OnePlus devices that are scheduled to receive future Android updates will also be offered the option to voluntarily upgrade to ColorOS 17. The company stated that the transition is intended to simplify software development and enable faster and more stable software updates.
Under its revised global strategy, OnePlus has decided not to launch new smartphones in the United States and Europe. The company said that existing customers in these regions will continue to receive warranty support, after-sales service, and consumer protection benefits without any changes. Sales of currently available inventory will also continue, but no new OnePlus devices will be introduced for these markets.
OnePlus also addressed recent reports claiming that it could reduce or end its business operations in India. The company rejected those reports and stated that India remains one of its most significant global markets. According to OnePlus, all business operations in India are continuing normally. The company added that it has introduced several new products in recent months and plans to launch the new OnePlus N6x in the near future.
The company's decision will also affect its affiliated brands. Oppo, the parent brand of OnePlus, already uses ColorOS, while Realme will also replace Realme UI with ColorOS 17 in the future. However, Realme will discontinue launching new smartphones in China and will instead focus on selected overseas markets. Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme confirmed that their products and services will continue to be available in India as usual.
