Owaisi Opposes India-Pakistan Cricket Match in Asia Cup 2025, Cites National Sentiments

Owaisi Opposes India-Pak Match in Asia Cup 2025, Says Playing While Diplomatic Communication and Trade are Halted is an Insult to National Sentiments.

Owaisi News: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed his opposition to the India-Pakistan cricket match in the Asia Cup 2025. He stated in the Lok Sabha that when trade, waterways, and airways are closed, playing a cricket match is an insult to the sacrifices of martyrs. He questioned whether the government would be able to explain this to the families of the martyrs.

Owaisi Strongly Opposes India-Pak Match: Following the announcement of the Asia Cup 2025 schedule, political statements regarding the match between India and Pakistan scheduled for September 14 have intensified. AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has bly opposed this match. During a special debate on 'Operation Sindoor' in the Lok Sabha, Owaisi raised questions to the central government.

'When Blood and Water Cannot Flow Together, Why Cricket?'

Owaisi stated in the Lok Sabha, "When trade with Pakistan is closed, their ships cannot enter our airspace, their boats cannot enter our rivers, then why is a cricket match happening?" He said that this attitude of the Indian government is hypocritical. On one hand, we say that there is no relationship with Pakistan, and on the other hand, we play cricket with them.

Cannot Tolerate Insult to Martyrs

Asaduddin Owaisi, referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, said that it has only been a few months since the incident. In this attack on April 22, 2025, 25 tourists and a local horse driver were killed. Owaisi questioned whether the government can go to the families of these martyrs and say that we have taken revenge with 'Operation Sindoor,' now you can enjoy the India-Pak cricket match?

Impact of 'Operation Sindoor' Resonates in Lok Sabha

Under 'Operation Sindoor,' India attacked nine terrorist hideouts located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In this operation, more than 100 terrorists were killed. This retaliatory action was taken after the Pahalgam attack. However, the opposition believes that any public interaction with Pakistan after such a serious national trauma, such as cricket, is not appropriate.

My Conscience Does Not Allow It: Owaisi

Owaisi said in Parliament, "My conscience does not allow me to watch this match. It is an insult to the martyrdom of those martyrs." He said that India should send a clear diplomatic message that until Pakistan stops promoting terrorism, normal activities at any level are not possible.
