Pakistan Records 5.5-Magnitude Earthquake Near Rajasthan Border, No Major Damage Confirmed

dedepth of approximately 35 kilometres, with no major casualties or damage confirmed in initial reports. The event follows a series of earthquakes recorded in Pakistan and other parts of the world over the past week.

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on Saturday morning, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The earthquake's epicentre was reported near the Rajasthan border at a depth of approximately 35 kilometres below the Earth's surface.

According to reports, the earthquake occurred at approximately 8:36 a.m. local time. Tremors were felt across several parts of Pakistan, particularly in areas located near the Rajasthan border.

Initial reports have not confirmed any major loss of life or property. However, repeated seismic activity over the past week has caused concern in the region.

Reports indicate that Pakistan has experienced a series of minor and moderate earthquakes in recent days, raising concerns over continuing seismic activity. A 5.2-magnitude earthquake was also recorded in the Barkhan region of Pakistan on 26 June, followed by the latest 5.4-magnitude earthquake on 27 June.

According to experts, more than 10 major earthquakes have been recorded worldwide over the past week. The recorded events include:

Pakistan Records 5.5-Magnitude Earthquake Near Rajasthan Border, No Major Damage Confirmed

  • 7.5 magnitude – Venezuela (near Yumares), 24 June

  • 7.2 magnitude – Venezuela (foreshock event), 24 June

  • 6.9 magnitude – Japan (near Kuji), 24 June

  • 6.5 magnitude – Philippines (near Sarangani), 26 June

  • 5.6 magnitude – United States, Northern California (Redwood Valley), 24 June

  • 5.7 magnitude – Japan (Yamanashi region), 26 June

  • 5.2 magnitude – Nicaragua (Villa El Carmen), 26 June

  • 5.2 magnitude – Pakistan (Barkhan region), 26 June

  • 5.4 magnitude – Pakistan, 27 June

  • 5.1 magnitude – Solomon Islands, 26 June

According to the source, some of these earthquakes caused damage, particularly in Venezuela and parts of Asia.

Two earthquakes measuring 7.5 and 7.2 magnitude struck Venezuela on 24 June, causing widespread damage. According to experts, the event was classified as an earthquake doublet, with the first shock identified as the main earthquake and the second as a foreshock. The earthquakes damaged multiple buildings and disrupted normal life.

Japan also recorded earthquakes measuring 6.9 and 5.7 magnitude, prompting alerts in several areas. A 6.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Philippines, while Northern California in the United States experienced a 5.6-magnitude earthquake.

According to experts, the recent series of earthquakes may indicate an increase in global seismic activity, although it may also be part of the Earth's normal tectonic processes.
