Passengers at the Sultanpur bus station in Uttar Pradesh are facing difficulty accessing basic facilities, including drinking water. Although government records state that several amenities, including potable water, are available at the station, passengers report that they often have to pay for water.
Passengers travelling through the bus station said that access to drinking water becomes essential during the summer season, but the availability of free potable water is almost nonexistent. Several travellers stated that they are forced to purchase bottled water to quench their thirst.
According to passengers, many of the water coolers installed at the bus station are either non-functional or do not supply water. As a result, people arriving from long distances face considerable inconvenience. Some travellers said that it is nearly impossible to drink water without spending money.
Passengers also raised concerns regarding other facilities at the bus station. They said that cleanliness and seating arrangements are not satisfactory. Dirt and litter can be seen at several places, causing inconvenience to travellers.
Local residents said the administration should pay attention to the management of the bus station, as a large number of passengers travel through the facility every day. They said that improved basic amenities would ease difficulties faced by travellers.
Passengers are currently demanding that drinking water and other essential facilities at the bus station be repaired as soon as possible so that people do not face unnecessary inconvenience.
