A chain-snatching incident was reported in the Kurji area under Digha police station in Patna on Wednesday morning. A man standing outside his house was allegedly targeted by a young man and woman riding a motorcycle, who snatched a gold chain from his neck and fled. According to the victim, the chain was worth around Rs 7 lakh. The incident reportedly took place at around 8 am.
According to the information available, the victim was standing outside his house when the young man and woman arrived on a motorcycle. The duo stopped near the victim and allegedly snatched the chain from his neck after spotting an opportunity. Before the victim could react, they fled from the spot on the motorcycle.
Following the incident, Digha police station house officer Avinash Kumar reached the spot with a police team. Police questioned the victim about the incident and inspected the area around the scene.
Police have started examining CCTV cameras installed around the area and along the routes through which the motorcycle-borne duo may have travelled. The investigation is aimed at identifying the two suspects and determining the motorcycle used in the incident.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from roads and locations surrounding the incident to establish the route taken by the suspects before and after the chain-snatching. Footage from multiple cameras may be examined to determine their movements.
Digha station house officer Avinash Kumar denied that the chain was snatched at gunpoint. He said the case was under investigation and that further action would be taken on the basis of the victim's application.
At present, the investigation is focused on the alleged chain-snatching, identification of the suspects and their arrest.
The victim has stated that the gold chain was worth around Rs 7 lakh. Final confirmation of the chain's value will be based on the police investigation and available documents.
The incident took place outside the victim's house in the Kurji area at around 8 am. Police are examining whether the suspects had been captured on CCTV before or after the incident and whether the footage can help establish their route.

Police in Patna have faced several chain-snatching cases in recent days. Recently, Kankarbagh police claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in chain-snatching incidents. Police arrested six alleged snatchers, including a couple, and recovered four gold chains and a motorcycle allegedly used in the incidents.

However, the latest incident in Kurji has not been linked to that gang. Police have not confirmed any connection between the two cases. The Kurji incident is being investigated separately, with CCTV footage being examined to identify the suspects.
Police are examining CCTV cameras around the scene as well as along routes where the motorcycle-borne suspects may have fled. Investigators may examine details such as the motorcycle's registration number, vehicle model and the suspects' faces if they are clearly captured on camera.
The police investigation will also consider the manner of the alleged offence, the vehicle used, CCTV footage and records of previously active offenders. The direction of the investigation will depend on information obtained from CCTV footage and the victim's statement.
There is currently no information about any arrest in the Kurji case. Police said the investigation was continuing and CCTV footage from the surrounding area was being examined. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of the victim's application.
