A permanent police checkpost has been set up at the Virat Ramayan Temple in Motihari, East Champaran, to strengthen security and crowd management amid rising devotee footfall, with round-the-clock police deployment and enhanced surveillance measures.

A permanent police checkpost has been established at the Virat Ramayan Temple located in Motihari in East Champaran district to strengthen security arrangements in view of the increasing number of devotees and the religious importance of the site. The new security facility was formally inaugurated by Motihari Superintendent of Police Swarna Prabhat, following which police surveillance in the temple परिसर and surrounding areas has been further strengthened.

According to officials, the Virat Ramayan Temple is emerging as a major centre of faith not only in Motihari but across Bihar, with a large number of devotees visiting daily for prayers and darshan. On special occasions, religious rituals, Ramayan recitations, fairs, and festivals, the temple witnesses heavy footfall, making crowd management, devotee safety, and maintenance of law and order a challenge for the administration. In view of these factors, the police department decided to establish a permanent checkpost within the temple premises.

During the inauguration, Superintendent of Police Swarna Prabhat said that the safety of devotees is the highest priority for the police. He stated that the checkpost will be manned by police personnel round the clock and all routes leading to and from the temple will remain under continuous surveillance. He said the police will remain fully prepared to deal with any suspicious activity, disorder, or emergency situation and added that strengthening security at religious places is necessary to ensure that people can practice their faith without fear.

Police officials said the checkpost will be used to monitor vehicles and individuals entering the temple premises. Additional police force will be deployed during periods of heavy crowding, along with regular patrolling. In coordination with the temple management, CCTV surveillance, emergency arrangements, and traffic control measures will also be strengthened to prevent any disorder during darshan.

The police administration has also indicated that similar security arrangements may be strengthened at other major religious and crowded locations in the district in the coming period. The police checkpost established at the Virat Ramayan Temple is expected to play an important role in ensuring devotee safety and maintaining law and order in the area.
