The central and state governments in the country implement numerous welfare schemes aimed at directly benefiting deserving and eligible citizens. One of the prominent schemes among these is the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana 20th Installment: Relief is on the horizon once again for crores of farmers across the country. The 20th installment of the central government's ambitious 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana' (PM-KISAN) is likely to be released soon. As always, eligible farmers will receive a sum of ₹2,000 directly transferred to their bank accounts. However, this time, the special aspect is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might initiate the installment from Motihari, Bihar.
What is the potential date for the 20th installment?
So far, 19 installments have been released under this scheme. This scheme is run with the aim of providing financial assistance to farmers three times a year. Usually, one installment is released every four months. If we look at the dates of the previous installments:
- 17th installment: July 2024
- 18th installment: October 2024
- 19th installment: February 2025
Looking at this pattern, the 20th installment was expected in June 2025, but it could not be released for some reason. Now, there is news that this installment may be transferred to farmers on July 18, 2025.
Modi may launch the installment from Motihari
PM Modi is scheduled to address a large public gathering in the Motihari district of Bihar on July 18. This event is proposed to be held at Gandhi Maidan, where the Prime Minister is going to offer several schemes to the state. According to sources, the Prime Minister may also launch the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Yojana on this occasion.
This will not be the first time the Prime Minister has released an installment from a public platform. Previously, the Prime Minister has linked the installment release program with direct interaction with farmers on several occasions. In such a scenario, Bihar may get the opportunity to witness this historic moment.
How many farmers will benefit?
More than 11 crore farmers across the country are benefiting from the PM Kisan Yojana. This scheme is designed for those small and marginal farmers who have a limited portion of land for farming. The government provides an annual assistance of ₹6,000 in the form of three installments of ₹2,000 each, three times a year. That is, through the 20th installment, the government will also send ₹2,000 directly to the farmers' accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
In the last few years, e-KYC (e-KYC) has been made mandatory to bring transparency to the PM Kisan Yojana. This is being done to ensure that the benefits reach the right farmers. Also, the list of beneficiaries is continuously updated so that ineligible people can be removed. The central government has instructed the states to confirm the eligible farmers and update the data as soon as possible so that the distribution of the installment can be done smoothly.
