Darbhanga district is witnessing persistent difficulties for farmers enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, with payments failing to reach bank accounts despite beneficiaries’ names appearing on the official list. The issue has led to repeated visits by farmers to government offices as payments continue to remain pending.
Technical and documentation-related shortcomings have emerged as primary obstacles. A major issue is the incomplete e-KYC process, without which subsequent instalments are not released. Problems such as unupdated mobile numbers, biometric authentication failures, or incomplete information have also contributed to payment delays.
Aadhaar and bank account linking has been identified as another serious concern. Payments are failing in cases where Aadhaar is not correctly linked with bank accounts. In several instances, farmers believe the linkage has been completed, but amounts remain stuck due to the system not reflecting updated information.
Errors in land records and bank account details are also affecting eligibility. Discrepancies related to names, account numbers, or land area in land records can result in exclusion from the scheme. In addition, bank accounts that have remained inactive for long periods are unable to receive government transfers.
Incorrect information entered during application, including name spellings, father’s name, IFSC code, or bank account number, has resulted in duplicate or incorrect entries in the system, leading to instalments being withheld.
Delays in verification at the local level by the agriculture department and revenue offices have further contributed to pending payments. Farmers report waiting for months after applying, with no clarity on the status of verification or disbursement.
Farmers have been advised to complete e-KYC at the nearest CSC centre or agriculture office, verify bank account status and Aadhaar linkage at banks, check land records and initiate necessary corrections, and re-verify all application details to rectify any errors without delay.
In Darbhanga district, issues related to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme have arisen due to multiple technical and administrative shortcomings rather than a single factor. Timely correction of documents and information is expected to enable uninterrupted access to scheme benefits.
