A New Chapter in India-Russia Partnership

India and Russia have been close partners for decades in energy, defense, and on international forums. Now, both countries are also increasing intensive cooperation in areas such as food security, fertilizer production, and agricultural technology. The recent meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit further strengthened bilateral ties. Experts believe that partnership in agriculture and food processing will bring long-term benefits to the economies of both countries.

Speaking at the Fourth World Food India Summit, Prime Minister Modi described India as the most attractive investment destination for the food processing industry. He stated that India possesses three key strengths—

  • Diversity: India boasts a rich variety of climate zones and crops.
  • Demand: A growing population and consumption capacity make it a large market for food processing.
  • Scale: India's vast size and production capacity offer unique investment opportunities for global companies.

PM Modi emphasized that this is the opportune time to invest in India. He stated, “Our doors are open for investors engaged in the food processing chain. There are immense opportunities for cooperation and investment in India, which will also strengthen global food security.”

Emphasis on Startups and Innovation

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned India's rapidly growing startup ecosystem. He informed that India is the world's third-largest startup hub, and a significant number of these are working in the agriculture and food processing sectors. These startups are not only creating employment but also bringing new technology and innovation to global markets.
