Priyanka Gandhi Questions Government on Pahalgam Attack Security Lapses in Lok Sabha

Priyanka Gandhi questioned the government in Lok Sabha regarding the ceasefire after the Pahalgam attack. She raised questions on security lapses, accountability, and political propaganda, and highlighted the pain of the victim families.

Priyanka Gandhi: During the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp attack on the central government. She stated that the Defence Minister spoke about history and the fight against terrorism in his address, but did not explain how the attack happened and why a ceasefire was declared?

Tribute to Martyred Soldiers, but Questions on Security

Priyanka Gandhi said that from 1948 till now, whenever Pakistan has attacked Kashmir, our brave soldiers have protected the integrity of the country. She saluted all the soldiers, saying that those who are stationed in deserts, forests, snowy peaks, and borders are the real protectors of the country. But the question is why there was no security in a sensitive area like Pahalgam?

Security Absent in Baisaran Valley, Where is the Government's Accountability?

Priyanka asked why there was not a single security personnel at the place where the attack happened (Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam)? More than 1000 tourists visit there every day, but there was neither security nor medical facility. She said that people went there trusting the government, but the government left them at God's mercy.

Worry about the Public Instead of Political Allegations

Priyanka Gandhi targeted Home Minister Amit Shah, saying that he talked about Nehru and Indira Gandhi, about my mother's tears, but did not explain why the ceasefire was announced. She said, "My mother's tears fell when her husband was killed by terrorists. She was only 44 years old. I understand the pain because I have also felt that pain."

The Government Should Not Run Away from Accountability

She said that the government always avoids questions and limits its answers to propaganda. But the public wants answers. Who will take responsibility for the 26 lives that were lost? Giving an example, she said that the wife of martyr Shubham Dwivedi said that her world was destroyed before her eyes and there was no security there.

Why the Difference Between the Security of Parliament and the Security of the General Public?

Priyanka said that the leaders sitting in Parliament have security, but there was no security for ordinary citizens in Pahalgam. Why this double standard? Did the government not know in advance that this area is sensitive and a terrorist attack could happen there at any time?

She directly questioned the government whether it can absolve itself of its responsibilities just by conducting operations? She said that the opposition will ask questions because it is their constitutional duty. But the ruling party has to answer.
