Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Defends Diljit Dosanjh Amidst Controversy Over 'Sardaar Ji 3'

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is currently embroiled in controversy regarding his film 'Sardaar Ji 3'. He is being continuously trolled on social media for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. Now, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has come out in open support of Diljit on this entire matter. He launched a scathing attack on those trolling him, calling them 'self-proclaimed nationalists' and stated that such people are jealous of the progress of Punjab and Punjabis.

Why Diljit Dosanjh is in Controversy

Actually, Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has been cast in the lead role in Diljit Dosanjh's film 'Sardaar Ji 3'. The trailer of the film was released on June 22, the same day as the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Displeasure was expressed on social media regarding the timing of the trailer release, and Diljit was trolled by labeling him as a supporter of Pakistan.
It is also noteworthy that there is an informal ban on working with Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry.

Although Diljit Dosanjh clarified that the film's shooting was completed months ago and the trailer release was merely a coincidence. Despite this, he is being continuously targeted on social media.

Bhagwant Mann Sides with Diljit

During an event on Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to this controversy. He said in clear words that Diljit is being called a traitor just because he has worked with a Pakistani artist. If the Pakistani cricket team comes to India to play, then will everything be considered normal?

The Chief Minister also said that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir was cast in the film because our and their cultures, languages, and emotions are very similar. They also speak Punjabi and so do we, he said. Bhagwant Mann expressed displeasure over the issue being unnecessarily highlighted and termed it against the unity and cultural partnership of the country.

Jealousy of Punjabis

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while directly attacking the trolls, said that some self-proclaimed nationalists are continuously targeting Punjabis. He alleged that these people are inwardly envious of the identity, culture, and increasing popularity of artists in Punjab.

He said, this mentality is not limited to Diljit Dosanjh alone, but it is a part of a larger conspiracy to suppress the voice of Punjab.
