Punjab Congress begins 2027 election preparations with four-day programme from October 8

Punjab Congress will begin a four-day programme from October 8 under Sachin Pilot and Pargat Singh, with events in Amritsar, Chintpurni, Jalandhar and Chandigarh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Punjab Congress has begun preparations to strengthen organisational unity and accelerate its groundwork for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Under the leadership of Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot and newly appointed state president Pargat Singh, the party’s new campaign will begin in Amritsar on October 8.

The campaign is aimed at bringing different factions of the organisation onto a common platform and strengthening the party’s preparations ahead of the Assembly elections. It will begin with Sachin Pilot and Pargat Singh paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar.

Sachin Pilot and Pargat Singh will travel to Punjab from Delhi. After paying obeisance at the religious site in Amritsar, the party’s programmes will begin in the presence of several senior Punjab Congress leaders and office-bearers.

Congress has prepared a four-day programme as part of the campaign. Programmes will be held in Amritsar on October 8, Chintpurni on October 9, Jalandhar on October 10 and Chandigarh on October 11.

The programmes are intended to improve coordination within the state organisation and activate workers ahead of the upcoming elections. The party is also seeking to strengthen its organisational presence among the public before the elections.

Newly appointed Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh will formally assume charge as state party president at the Punjab Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh on October 11.

The programme is being organised as a major organisational event. According to the party, more than 5,000 Congress workers and leaders are expected to attend the ceremony.

Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, along with former MPs, legislators, senior leaders and district-level office-bearers, may also attend the ceremony. The event is part of the party’s preparations to activate the state organisation for the elections and increase participation among its workers.

After the state president’s assumption-of-office ceremony, the Congress is preparing for visits to Punjab by national leaders. The party is preparing for possible visits by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with other senior leaders, in the second or third week of October.

The proposed visits are part of the party’s preparations to increase political activity in the state and strengthen the organisation up to the booth level. Congress is also working to activate workers well ahead of the elections and expand its grassroots outreach.

Several programmes to increase public outreach in Punjab are under discussion within the Congress. These include a proposal to organise a cycle rally.

The party also plans to advance its previously proposed bus journey. The Congress is considering starting the bus journey from Amritsar and taking it to different districts across Punjab.

Through these programmes, the party plans to increase direct contact with workers and the public in both rural and urban areas.
