Punjab Cracks Down on Drug Mafia: Illegal Properties Demolished, Smugglers Arrested

In a b crackdown against the drug mafia in Punjab, the administration demolished illegally constructed houses on panchayat land occupied by 9 families in Hoshiarpur. Meanwhile, in Jalandhar, five members of a drug and arms smuggling gang were arrested, and 1.50 kg of heroin and seven illegal weapons were recovered.

Punjab: On Wednesday, the administration bulldozed illegal constructions belonging to 9 families involved in drug smuggling in Denowal Khurd village of Hoshiarpur district. Investigations revealed that these families had occupied 13 marlas of panchayat land and built five houses on it. The demolition was carried out in the presence of a large police force. Police stated that more than 100 cases are registered against these families, mostly under the NDPS Act. On the same day, police in Jalandhar arrested five members of a drug and arms smuggling gang and seized a large quantity of heroin and weapons.

Major Blow to Drug Mafia in Punjab

Intensifying the anti-drug campaign in Punjab, the Hoshiarpur administration took major action on Wednesday. Five illegal houses belonging to 9 families involved in drug smuggling in Denowal Khurd village were demolished with bulldozers. These houses were built on 13 marlas of panchayat land under illegal occupation. This step by the administration is considered a b message against drug traffickers.

Hoshiarpur SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that this village had become a hub of drug smuggling, and the accused have a long criminal record. So far, more than 100 FIRs have been registered against these families, most of which are under the NDPS Act.

Drug and Arms Smuggling Gang Busted in Jalandhar

Launching a front against drugs and illegal weapons, the Punjab Police busted a multi-layered gang in Jalandhar. According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the police arrested five accused and recovered 1.50 kg of heroin and seven illegal weapons from them.

The DGP stated on social media platform X that this action has dealt a severe blow to drug and arms smugglers active in the area. He described it as a major success of the ongoing anti-drug and crime control campaign in Punjab.

Administration's Strong Message and Future Strategy

Both actions have made it clear that the Punjab government is working on a zero-tolerance policy against the drug mafia. Demolishing illegal properties and busting gangs are key parts of this strategy.

Officials say that similar operations will continue against those involved in drug smuggling in the future. In this campaign, the local community has also been appealed to play an aware and cooperative role along with the police and administration.
