New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to embark on his special ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in Bihar from August 17. The main objective of this yatra is to make voters aware of their rights and send a b message against alleged irregularities such as vote theft. Rahul Gandhi has described it as a decisive battle to protect democracy, the Constitution, and the principle of 'One Man, One Vote'.

Purpose and Significance of the Yatra

Rahul Gandhi said that this yatra is not just an electoral issue, but an effort to strengthen the foundation of democracy, uphold the fundamental principles of the Constitution, and ensure the security of every citizen's vote. He wrote in an X post, 'From August 17, with the Vote Rights Yatra, we are launching a direct fight against vote theft from the land of Bihar. Youth, laborers, farmers — every citizen, rise up and join this mass movement. This time, the defeat of vote thieves — victory of the people, victory of the Constitution.'

During this yatra, Rahul Gandhi will tour a total of 23 districts of Bihar and make the people there aware of their voter rights, improvements in the voter list, and alleged irregularities by the Election Commission. The yatra will conclude in Patna on September 1.

Voter List and SIR Process

Currently, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list is being focused on in Bihar. The Election Commission released the first revised voter list draft for all 38 districts of the state on August 1. In this draft, Patna district has the highest number of voters' names deleted, while Madhubani and East Champaran are in second and third place respectively.

Rahul Gandhi's yatra is considered important to take this draft and the process of improvement in the voter list to the public, make them aware, and ensure that no voter is deprived of their rights.

Engagement with Youth and Common Citizens

Rahul Gandhi has emphasized connecting specifically with youth, farmers, and laborers during the yatra. His message is that democracy will remain b only when every citizen properly exercises their right to vote. During the yatra, efforts will be made to ensure that the public actively participates in correcting any errors in the voter list.

On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi appealed to the voters to not only use their vote correctly but also make the people around them aware of their rights. He described it as a 'mass movement' and said that this movement is not limited to just elections, but it is necessary to save the fundamental principles of democracy.

Election Commission and Public Safety

During Rahul Gandhi's yatra, attempts will be made to expose the alleged irregularities of the Election Commission. He believes that a transparent and fair electoral process is the soul of democracy. The attempt through the yatra will be to give the message to the public that only aware and empowered voters can strengthen any democratic system.

Yatra Strategy and Media Coverage

Rahul Gandhi's Voter Rights Yatra will be widely publicized throughout the state and country through media and social media. Under this, a voter awareness campaign will be conducted through public meetings, dialogues, and rallies. The objective of this strategy is that every citizen uses their right to vote in the right direction and strengthens democracy.
