Rahul, Priyanka, and Tejashwi's Voter Rights Yatra Heats Up Bihar Politics in Mithilanchal

Former MLC Prem Chandra Mishra informed in a press conference that political activity has increased regarding a special program to be held in Mithilanchal during the voter rights यात्रा (Voter Adhikar Yatra) of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Tejashwi Yadav.

Bihar Politics 2025: Political reaction is intensifying in Bihar against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Opposing it at both the state and central levels, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav have launched the Voter Adhikar Yatra. Priyanka Gandhi is also likely to join them in this phase, which is expected to make this yatra even more influential and attention-grabbing.

Program Canceled at Mithila Haat

Prem Chandra Mishra stated that meetings of the Extremely Backward Classes and other programs were to be organized at the haat during the yatra. Permission was sought in advance for this. However, the booking for the program was not approved by the Mithila Haat management. Govind Jha of Mithila Haat management said that the rate quotation given for the program was not paid on time. He stated that there was advocacy from all sides to reduce the rates, but due to non-payment, they expressed their inability to grant permission.

Former MLC Prem Chandra Mishra further informed that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and several leaders of the Grand Alliance, including Tejashwi Yadav, will reach Madhubani on Wednesday. The yatra will start from Supaul. They will reach Phulparas by vehicle via NH 27 and participate in a meeting of the OBC वर्ग (class) in Sijaulia. After lunch arrangements, the convoy will reach Mohana Chowk in Jhanjharpur.

From Mohana Chowk, the yatra will start and pass through Ram Chowk, Railway Gumti, and Kanhauli, and from Kanhauli NH मार्ग (road), they will go to Sarsopahi and Sakri. However, due to the unavailability of a banquet hall at Mithila Haat, the program there has been postponed.

Politics Heats Up Before Rahul, Priyanka, and Tejashwi's Arrival in Mithilanchal

Political heat had already increased in Mithilanchal regarding this program. Discussions of opposition and support regarding the 130th Constitutional Amendment, Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and electoral activities in the state are intensifying. During the yatra, the leaders' interaction and meetings with the Extremely Backward Classes voters are considered important for the Grand Alliance.

Former MLC Prem Chandra Mishra said in the press conference that the purpose of the yatra is to raise awareness about voter rights and the democratic process. However, the format of the program had to be changed due to non-availability of booking from the haat management. Prem Chandra Mishra said that during the yatra, the leaders of the Grand Alliance will discuss social and political issues. They will address gatherings at various places and spread awareness about the voter rights yatra in rural areas.

Route and Schedule of the Yatra

  • OBC meeting in Sijaulia via Supaul to Phulparas
  • Stoppage and meeting at Mohana Chowk, Jhanjharpur
  • Ram Chowk, Railway Gumti, and Kanhauli मार्ग (road)
  • Meeting and address in Sakri

Despite the cancellation of the program at Mithila Haat, the Grand Alliance's objective is to reach out to local people with voter rights and political issues.
