Jaipur's AIIMS-like super specialty Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has received approval for establishment in the Rajasthan Assembly. This hospital, to be built on 40 acres of land, will be ready within the next two years with world-class facilities.
Jaipur: The people of Rajasthan are set to receive a major boon in the healthcare sector. The Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), will now be established in Jaipur, the state capital. The project has received official approval following the Rajasthan Health Sciences University (Amendment) Bill 2025 being passed by voice vote in the Rajasthan Assembly.
Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar announced in the Assembly that the establishment of RIMS will help the state establish a new identity in the field of medical facilities. He stated that this institution will not only become a center for modern healthcare services but will also create a new hub for medical tourism in Rajasthan in the coming times.
New RIMS Hospital to be Built on 40 Acres of Land
The government plans to develop RIMS on 40 acres of land in Jaipur. Adequate budget has already been arranged for this project. The design and facilities of RIMS will be such that it can compete with world-class medical services like AIIMS Delhi.
Super specialty services such as cardiology, neurosciences, cancer treatment, orthopedics, and liver transplant facilities will be available here. Until now, patients had to travel to Delhi, Mumbai, or other states for these services, but after the establishment of RIMS, all these facilities will be available within Rajasthan.
Free Treatment for the Poor at RIMS
The Rajasthan government has clarified that the objective of RIMS is not only to provide state-of-the-art services but also to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to the common people. The Health Minister informed that free treatment will be available here to eligible beneficiaries of government schemes.
This will also reduce the pressure on other government hospitals, and patients will be able to receive treatment in a better environment. Furthermore, RIMS will be operated as an autonomous institution, which will make its functioning faster and more effective.
RIMS to be Fully Ready in Two Years
Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar assured the Assembly that RIMS will be fully ready within the next two years. For this, construction and infrastructure-related works will be completed on a priority basis.
During this period, not only will the hospital be constructed, but modern laboratories, a medical college, a research center, and training institutes for doctors will also be developed. The government believes that this institution will bring new employment and research opportunities for the youth of the state.
RIMS Will Make Rajasthan a Medical Tourism Hub
During the discussions in the Assembly, it was also highlighted that with the establishment of RIMS, Rajasthan will carve a new identity for itself in the field of medical tourism. Patients coming here will not only be from the state but also from across the country and abroad will come to Jaipur for treatment.
Jaipur is already famous as a tourist destination. When state-of-the-art medical services are also available here, this city will become a b center for both health and tourism. The government believes that this will also strengthen the state's economy and create new employment opportunities.
