Rajasthan: BJP-Congress Clash Over Rising Crime and Law & Order

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed concern over rising crime and law and order in Rajasthan. In response, BJP MLA Gopal Sharma retorted, stating that Congress and crime are twin brothers.

Jaipur: A new political confrontation has emerged between the BJP and Congress in Rajasthan's politics concerning law and order. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently expressed concern over the increasing crime and deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He alleged that the BJP is adopting double standards and showing partiality in crime cases.

Reacting to this, BJP MLA Gopal Sharma launched a sharp counter-attack. Sharma stated, "Crime and Congress share the same destiny, as if they are twin brothers." Targeting Gehlot, he listed the rising crimes during the Congress rule and alleged that many Congress leaders are involved in criminal cases.

Gehlot's Statement on Law and Order

Former Chief Minister Gehlot stated that law and order in Rajasthan have collapsed. He alleged that crime is continuously increasing in the state, and the general public is extremely distressed by this situation. Gehlot claimed that the BJP adopts double standards regarding crime in the state and is misusing its power.

He also stated that there is a continuous rise in cases of murder, robbery, and crimes against women in the state. According to Gehlot, the government is paying no attention to this and is failing to ensure the safety of common people. In his view, improving law and order and controlling criminals should be the government's primary responsibility.

Gopal Sharma Criticizes Gehlot's Tenure

In his statement, Gopal Sharma questioned the policies and law and order during Gehlot's tenure. He stated that incidents like the gang rape of a Tibetan girl in the forests of Jobner were among the most shameful in Rajasthan's history.

Furthermore, Sharma added that the leaders with whom Gehlot shares the stage are big names in the criminal world. He also questioned Gehlot's credibility, citing the Bihar elections.
