Sonam Raghuvanshi conspired with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, and his friends to murder her husband, Raja. They had also plotted to kill another woman before the wedding, but this plan failed.
Sonam Raghuvanshi: The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Shillong has sent shockwaves across the nation. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is the accused, having conspired and executed the murder of her husband with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, and his friends. This was not a random killing; it was a meticulously planned and horrifying act.
Murder Plot Under the Guise of a Honeymoon
Sonam convinced her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, to go on a honeymoon to Shillong, where he was murdered according to their pre-determined plan. The police investigation revealed this was not a contract killing but a terrifying example of loyalty to Raj Kushwaha. Raja was killed by his acquaintances, simply because Sonam and Raj Kushwaha needed him out of the way.
Another Murder Plot Before the Wedding
Shockingly, this was not the first time Sonam plotted a murder. According to the police, before their wedding, Sonam and Raj planned to kill another woman. This plan was conceived in February, around the time of Raja and Sonam's engagement.
Their plan was to kill a woman and make it appear as though it was Sonam, freeing her from societal and familial obligations. They even fabricated a story involving a scooter, a river, and a burning body. However, this plan failed.
Final Murder Plan Made 11 Days Before the Act
After the first plot failed, Sonam and Raj formulated a new plan. Eleven days before the wedding, they decided to murder Raja, believing it would be easier and less suspicious after the marriage. Sonam then planned a trip to Shillong with Raja to carry out the murder without arousing suspicion.
Police Unravel the Mystery
According to Vivek Shyam, SP of Shillong's Khyali Hill area, the murder was not carried out by a professional gang or contract killer. It was executed by Raj Kushwaha and three of his friends – Aakash, Anand, and Vishal – acting out of loyalty to Raj. This loyalty extended to the point of murdering an innocent person.
How the Murder Was Uncovered
After the murder, Sonam filed a false missing person report for her husband, attempting to portray herself as innocent. However, understanding the gravity of the situation, the police began investigating using CCTV footage, call recordings, and digital tracing.
Within days, the police uncovered several pieces of evidence, including Sonam's conversations, travel plans, and her relationship with Raj Kushwaha. Subsequently, Sonam and her accomplices were arrested, and they confessed to the murder during interrogation.
